Every old-school home page had one, and this site was built back then. This is mine — the places I actually read, in three corners: the Escape community, the archives that saved this site, and the rabbit hole I did not see coming.
The Escape community
This site has pointed at the same message board since 2004, and it still works — which is the whole reason a links page is worth restoring at all.
- Escape Central — the Ford Escape message board. The Bigfoot threads, the “new BarbFeet” thread, and two decades of Escape questions and answers. The forum this site has linked to since 2004.
- The original 2004 snapshot — this site exactly as the Internet Archive captured it on August 30, 2004. If a page here ever looks “wrong,” that capture is the version to compare against.
Keeping the old web around
A restored site is only as good as the archives behind it. One of them deserves more than a footnote:
- The Wayback Machine — the service that rescued this site in the first place. Worth bookmarking for anything else from the early web you are chasing down.
Off the clock — my wrist
The truck gets most of the attention on this site, but a personal page should probably admit its other corners, too. Over the past year I have fallen down a rabbit hole I did not expect: replica watches — specifically the “super clone” tier that has taken over the conversation. I went in for one specific look I wanted to wear, and I ended up studying super clone watches the way other people study trim levels.
I am not paid by anyone on this page. These are just the reads I keep coming back to:
- that Rolex super clone breakdown — the first page that made the tier system actually make sense to me. I went in looking at one bracelet and came out having read the whole thing.
If I find a better link for any of these corners, this page will say so. That is the deal.
